Confession #1: I love the 80s. Let’s be real, how could I not? Shoulder pads! Incredible teen movies (remember Heathers?)! Big hair! Michael Jackson, Madonna, and “You Make My Dreams Come True” by Hall and Oates!
Confession #2: I love Chicago. I grew up in the suburbs, and it’s become my second favorite city in the US. It’s super clean, the people are rull nice, the shopping is great (Topshop. September 8th), and there are beaches! Yeah!
All right, do you see where I’m going with this? The 80s + Chicago? YEAH YOU DO. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, easily one of the best coming-of-age films of all time. Director John Hughes was the king of teen comedies in the 80s, and I have to say that this one is my favorite of his. I love how it showcases Chicago, and Matthew Broderick is flawless as the title character. And so is his ladyfriend Sloane Peterson’s 80s style.
Unfortunately, this is the best picture I could find, but check out how fierce she is. High waisted shorts and fringe? Too good.
There ya go. High waisted shorts, cropped tee, and in incredible leather fringed jacket (not white, but hey, the green’s pretty versatile). Add in one statement earring like Sloane’s, some badass boots, and maybe some tights if it’s chilly, and you’ve got yourself the perfect look for playing hooky.
Do I even need to say it? Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Check it.
